Welcome to Time Out 4 God!

What is Time Out 4 God all about? Simply put, it's a movement to get believers everywhere to commit themselves to spending quality time with God every day. We should be praying and reading the Bible every day. We're not talking about a daily scripture reading and then you're done. It means meditating on what you've read throughout the day and committing it to memory while applying it to our daily lives.

Regarding prayer, were not talking about saying a quick "thank you" for our food, to make it to work on time, or to bless us so we don't have to struggle. It means being prayerful throughout the day as we communicate with God our thoughts, our feelings, our needs, and especially our weaknesses that we need Him to help us with. it means asking for God to grant us the wisdom to understand what we are reading in the Bible. It means praising Him continually, whether we are in a good mood or not, because He is worthy of praise and when things are not going all that well, thanking Him that they are not even worse. And finally, we need to feel the presence of God with us each day. What I mean by that is having a closeness with God. If you're not drawing closer to God, then you are probably drawing closer to the world which is Satan's kingdom. I find that the more time I spend with God in prayer and in His Word, the less time I'm tempted by Satan.

Notice the contrast between James 4:7 & 8: (7) "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you," and (8) "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." Our mission in life is two-fold: 1. Resist the devil 2. Draw near to God.

How do we resist the devil? By resisting the evil temptations that he lures us with. By saying "no" to Satan and the fleshly desires. When we resist the devil, as Jesus did in the desert as He was tempted during the 40 days of fasting, the devil will flee from us.

How do we draw near to God? By submitting ourselves to rule of God as King and Lord of our lives. By submitting to God's will. By spending quality time with God each and every day in thought, prayer, and in His word.
